#StopAsianHate

My heart has been very heavy with all that I've been seeing in the news lately. As if covid numbers weren't bad enough to track, now I've turned conversations with my husband to "Have you heard about this attack in CA? Have you heard about this attack in NYC?" It only infuriates me and makes my blood boil when I hear that these are mostly cowardly attacks on vulnerable elders. How low are you going attacking a petite grandma? Do you realize how easy it is to cause fatal harm as we've seen with the death of Vicha Ratanapakdee?

thoughts: covid-19 and new mom

These are definitely unprecedented times. COVID-19 have such a global impact, I don't think anyone in our current generation have ever experienced. And adding these circumstances to a new mom is beyond overwhelming. Social distancing is not a new concept to a new mom, heck I've been joking to my friends - I've been social distancing during the entire duration of my maternity leave. A newborn's immune system is not yet strong enough for venturing with the outside world hence the fourth trimester (aka newborn's first 3 months) we've been pretty much staying put at home already. For introverts like me, staying at home with family watching TV marathons might easily be the best pasts times. But when you have a 2yo toddler, a Bones marathon (currently streaming on Amazon Prime ) might not be wise and I am not about to loop through hours of Cocomelon. Entertainment for a 2yo would also be easier without a needy newborn around. Adding on top of this, ensuring that we...

new year and life update

2020 is only 2 days away! A brand new decade is about to start. Not going to bore you with a past 10 year reflection (maybe something for the future) but I do want to share a new life update. We have a new Baby C in town! Nothing more peaceful than watching a baby sleep (baby swaddle from Uniqlo and no longer available) Little C and Baby C are definitely keeping me busy. But I'm also hoping that being on maternity leave now, I'll have some more time for blogging as well. Follow me on Instagram @melissaingblog for updates! Also popping on here with a Space NK Advent Calendar for 2019 on sale for $175 at Bloomingdales right now! This set is not exactly $800 value as claimed, but I went ahead and did a value breakdown to convince myself to purchase when it was selling for $265. Space NK Advent Calendar 2019 Value Breakdown Here's a quick breakdown of all the items included and their size and retail value. Total for this set comes out to be $733! Incl...

happy mother's day

Never thought I'll share this cheeks of my little milk monster - but she's too cute not to share. It's very hard to imagine that this holiday now also applies to me. Mother's Day was always for my mom, but now me too?? That just sounds so surreal. I might be taking care of this little milk monster 24/7 for the last 4 months but I sure feel more like a servant than a mom. 😂 Maybe one day when I start receiving her handwritten cards, it'll finally hit me. Somehow the word motherhood doesn't seem appropriate to describe my last 4 months. Pregnancy felt like a burden and the delivery process was just a pain (pun intended). Maybe one day I'll share my delivery/labor story.  When I think of motherhood I used to think of love and nurture, while I don't think I did any less than that, motherhood means a whole lot more and different. Breastfeeding, cleaning bottles, pumping, sleepless nights, tending to each of her whines and whimpers, and just plain worr...

new blogging journey

Hello! Let me introduce myself, my name is Melissa and this is a new space where I want to share tidbits about me. I'm no newbie to blogging, I joined the whole blogosphere bubble way back in 2010.  But I feel like the blog has swayed away from what I wanted it to be. So here I am turning a new page. 2018 is a turning point for me. I gave birth to a very beautiful mini-me. 😂 The first 3 months of her life was also the first time that my life wasn't mine. Each hour of the day was dedicated to her: feeding, changing, soothing, playing... even my own sleep was to make sure I'll have enough energy to take care of her during the next session. And I don't think I'll want it any other way. Thank you for stopping by and Melissa-ing with me.
